Join WCMA's Student Advisory Committee! From: Josephine E. Cook '13
Posted: Friday November 11

Interested in museums, the arts, activism, or student engagement at Williams? Then join the Williams College Museum of Art’s first ever Student Advisory Committee! As part of the Fulkerson Fund for Leadership in the Arts, the group will focus on strengthening the connection between Williams students and the museum. The Committee will learn about behind-the-scenes activities at WCMA and offer input on ways to create meaningful museum experiences for students. Participating members will take leadership roles in developing a group project with advice from mentors in the art world; projects may range from organizing an exhibition to working with artists to creating an arts activism campaign. Students will also have the opportunity to meet with this year’s Fulkerson lecturer Jenny Holzer.

Applications to WCMA’s Student Advisory Committee can be found at http://wcma.williams.edu/files/2011/11/Student-Advisory-Committee-Application-2011.doc. Once completed, submissions must be turned in to Coordinator of Education Programs Joann Harnden at Joann.Harnden@williams.edu by November 29. Although an interest in museums is recommended, it is not required that applicants be Art Studio or Art History majors. Participation in the Committee requires a commitment for the current academic year, as well as an ability to attend meetings twice a month.
