College Council: Whats Shakin
The College Council
went another round last night. Money changed hands: the media center got $400 for repairs, and the martial arts club left with $65 to attend a tournament. David La (01dgl) reported that the ethernet jacks in Baxter lounge are now operational and that a printer is coming soon to the lounge. Hes also looking for locations for new printers on campus. Send him your suggestions, i.e., your room number. David also says that we may get terminals for Web browsing in Baxter lounge. Thanks to the efforts of Lloyd Nimetz (01lln), there is now a TV in the mailroom that broadcasts CNN. Soon a committee will coalesce to examine what sorts of stores are best for Spring Street. Contact Will Slocum (99wjs) if youre interested in this part of the Spring Street 2000 project. Sam Abelson (98sba) reported that a shuttle bus to take students to popular destinations in the area should be running next year. At lunchtime Monday, look for College Council reps in the mailroom as part of "Opinions Unplugged," an opportunity for you to give suggestions and comment on any fundamental issues facing the Council. Dan Nehmad (99drn) reported that the Campus Environmental Advisory Council is asking the office-services department to use recycled paper and is considering whether to install a traditional or propane fireplace in Goodrich, next years new student center. Kate Ervin (99kse) said that SAC is co-sponsoring Musicfest on May 2 with WCFM and the housing committee. In addition, SAC is bringing They Might Be Giants to campus May 9. And on May 14, look for a last-episode-of-Seinfeld blowout at the Log.See you Monday in the mailroom for Opinions Unplugged!
