Student Faculty Committee Updates:
The Committee on Priorities and Resources reports that they will soon hear whether the dance program will retains space in Lasell with the arrival of the new performing arts complex. One proposed alternative is that the Lasell space be used for an expansion of the weight room; if you have ANY ideas about the weight room revamp email Carrie Ryan, '00.

The committee is reconsidering the no-alcohol policy, though nothing has been decided yet the coffee bar is doing extremely well, with LOTS AND LOTS of bagels as breakfast points are take off. Funding, funding, and more funding. . .
Honey Phillips, '00, asked for funding on behalf of the Williams chapter of Habitat for Humanity to support their annual spring break service trip. After debate on whether College Council is the appropriate source to fund such a trip, the vote was tabled until Phillips has a chance to pursue other funding channels and complete fundraising efforts.
Garfield Republicans' representative Jon Foreman, '00, requested $550 for their winter lecture, "Fear of Nothing, Dread of Something." The request was passed 28-0.
Max Weinstein, '00, requested $600 for the MHINDS end of the semester STRESS BUSTER (boy do we need it). The approved budget (27-0-1) will fund free massages, movies, ice cream and more.
And finally, the LOG Committee. . .
Carrie Ryan, '00, reported that with $2,500 from College Council, a $30,000 update of the LOG can begin. The goal: have the LOG open EVERY DAY (except Sunday) during Winter Study. Imagine: 10:00 am daily, a fire burning in front of cozy new furniture, with hot chocolate and cider, magazines and newspapers available. ("LOG Fire Tender" promises to be a cushy campus job, so keep your eyes open). At 4:30, pizza, nachos etc. become available, with the a bar serving Guinness and microbrews opening in the evening - and NO security officers. LOG programming would continue, with Monday night football on a new, big screen TV, open mike nights, dance parties and more. Debate on the funding proposal centered on the excitement expressed by Benjamin Angarita, '03, Joe Maters '02, and many other council members for the social opportunities, events, and space the LOG revisions could provide; (Angarita reminded us that it would be a nice chance for frosh to mix with upperclassmen and "have a club soda, or something.") While sharing this enthusiasm, Medha Kirtane '00, worried that CC would be funding something that is truly the administration's responsibility. Nonetheless, the LOG revisions budget was approved 26-0-3. yeah LOG.
Opinions. . .
Soap dispensers in all dorms. . .we're working on it. Morgan Barth, '02, is also working on the distribution of corporate flyers/advertisements in Baxter and on desks. . .
Whether the College Council discussion listserver should be made public is a major, up and coming topic of debate, centering on whether representatives should be held accountable for brainstorming and preliminary discussions held over email. Keep posted for more debate on this one. . .

Carrie Ryan, '00, encourages you to bring ANY and ALL brainstorms or opinions about housing, the housing committee, the proposed cluster system, or anything else you come up with, to the Residential Improvement Committee. David Thal, '03, reported that security says their community policing, deemed intrusive by many frosh, was intended as a method to meet the frosh. After discussions with freshmen CC reps Thal, Ashford Bradly, and Mayo Shattuck, security is going to meet with frosh at entry snacks instead.
