Greensense has moved!

This page shows the work of Greensense. In 2007 Greensense morphed into the Thursday Night Group. Please see our Facebook.com group for our current activities, members and leaders.

Thanks!

-------------------

Greensense, is the Williams College environmental advocacy organization composed of students from all backgrounds working to increase environmental awareness and activism. We believe that individuals on our campus, in our communities, and throughout the world can and must be more conscious of the repercussions of their actions. To achieve this end, we join forces with other campus organizations like the Lehman Community Service Council, the Williams Outing Club, Students for Social Justice, and the Campus Environmental Advisory Committee. In addition, we have strong ties with the dedicated faculty in Buildings and Grounds and Dining Services.

Our weekly meetings, held on Tuesdays at 9pm, at Kellogg House (CES),reveal only a piece of the time and effort put into environmental matters. Our main projects include improving dining hall composting, campus-wide recycling, and use of organic and locally-grown foods. In addition, we are constantly involved in making the campus more energy efficient by pushing for sustainable energy sources, green building features, and hybrid campus vehicles. Greensense also works on education by publishing an informative flier called the "Pit Lit" and by contributing articles to The Record (the campus newspaper). The group maintains the Eco Café that sells organic food and fair trade, shade grown coffee in Schow Atrium for those seeking a healthy, tasty, and environmentally-helpful meal!

We are always looking for new members and ideas! Contact our '05-06 Greensense Presidents, Elise Leduc, at 06enl@williams.edu or me, 06aes@williams.edu with questions, comments or suggestions.
