Sailing is a unique sport at Williams College; it operates as a student-organized program, but shares the demands of many varsity sports. Practices are held daily throughout our two seasons, the Fall (September through early November) and the Spring (April through May) seasons. Daily practices take place on Pontoosuc Lake and provide you with the opportunity to hone your skills under the guidance of our coaching staff in the shadows of the beautiful Berkshire Mountains. The team enters regattas across New England every weekend, and every sailor on the team is expected to compete regularly. Normally, Williams competes in two-person dinghy events, but will occasionally enter single-handed, sloop, or big boat regattas.
If you are interested in our program, we invite you to tour the website. Be sure to check back often to peruse results as well as other team news. If you are planning on visiting the campus, and would like to meet with our captains, or if you would like more information about sailing at Williams, please contact Andrew Lorenzen, '12, at tal1@williams.edu or our coach Richard Cote at rcote@pittsfield.net. Our sailors would be happy to put you up during your visit.
