| The
Jewish Religious Center (JRC) is the home of the Williams College
Jewish Association. Located just off of Route 2 on Stetson Court,
across the street from the Office of Admission, the JRC is just
a short walk from any point on campus.
Renowned
in the architectural world (we'd like to think so, at least)
for its distinctive white pillars and pyramidal roof, the building
stands as a sign of the Jewish community at Williams. And we
mean that literally – it's impossible to miss.
The
monumental exterior gives way to a pleasant and naturally lit
interior, finished with comfortable furniture and original works
of art. Inside this remarkably versitile building, you'll find
a sanctuary, extensive Judaica
library, several lounge areas, student and rabbinical offices
and a kosher kitchen and dining room, where students prepare
and share Shabbat dinner.
Most
importantly, these facilities provide a place for community
to happen. Once inside, you can't escape the sense of belonging. Put simply,
this is our space. As you run into friends and professors at
services, dinner or in passing, you'll understand the essential
role the JRC plays in grounding each of us to the Purple Valley.
