[CCouncil] What should be advertised

CoCo,
I do not believe that advertising the legal aspects of underage drinking will be very effective. Personally, not speaking for everyone in my constituency, I don't believe that the legal drinking age should be as high as 21. The people who prevent those under 21 from drinking are also the people trained to keep alcohol consumption from getting out of hand. By forcing "underage" drinkers to steer clear of those who really know when they've had too much, they drink in environments that are much less safe. As long as alcohol is available to those of-age on campus, alcohol will be available to everyone on campus.

I suggest we campaign to reduce the amount of alcohol abuse on campus as a whole. I've attached a report on College Drinking I found courtesy of Scruff McGruff. It is a little old, but some of the topics it discusses are worth looking into. I feel that advertising the social effects of alcohol might be more effective. Emphasizing things like deaths, sexual assault, suicide attempts, academic problems, etc. Alot of these facts and numbers are not very well known and can draw a gruesome but real picture for many people.

It is now very late and my roomate is getting annoyed that I'm typing away. I'll leave it at that.

Thanks for reading ;)
