This year, the post-Kendrick crop of L.A. rap stars began to reveal itself.
At its forefront is G Perico, a South Central artist who's had a fantastic
2017 between his projects *All Blue, G-Worthy *and his most recent release *2
Tha Left. *Having spent much of his early adult life in and out of jail, G
brings gripping street narratives over glossy G-funk production. G's voice
is also just amazing, this is really fun to listen to. Key tracks: "I Love
Thots," "Amerikkka," "What's Real."

*BRWN*
B. Cool-Aid

*BRWN*, the product of a collaboration between producer Ahwlee and
rapper/singer Pink Siifu, sounds like a lazy Sunday morning. Siifu's warm,
raspy vocals sink deep into the mix, becoming part of the fabric
of Ahwlee's gorgeous piano chords and Dilla drums. Best listened to while
in the laziest state possible. Post-finals vibes are strong here. Key
tracks: "teach," "all_weekend," "feelin_u."

*FEELS*
Snoh Aalegra

If you've been keeping up with Drake this year, you might've heard Snoh
Aalegra's pitched-up vocals on More Life closing track "Do Not
Disturb." Turns out Aalegra is one of the most talented young artists in
R&B today. The Swedish singer's debut album *FEELS* is full of 90s R&B
production, compelling guest performances, and most importantly, Snoh
Aalegra's stunning voice and songwriting. Oh, and you get to hear that "Do
Not Disturb" sample in its glorious original form. Key tracks: "Time," "You
Got Me," "All I Have."
