The Soul Cycle is equal parts grounded and transportive, injecting Otis
Redding croons with Goldlink mumbles and Motown Sound with OVO Sound. DJ
HanSwag and Lev are also self-proclaimed masters of the studio phone,
promoting their weekly radio show with the studio phone number. Of course,
they might also might be the only ones who know how to use it. Stay tuned
for a full (autobiographic?) profile later this week.

Natia

Englewood rapper Natia has lived a wild life. He's been homeless for seven
years, hustling between his raps to sustain himself. There's no denying his
talent, though - the 24-year old has received cosigns from some of LA's
finest, including Earl Sweatshirt. Despite being from the West Coast, he
raps with a sharpness that evokes the ethos of early Wu-Tang Clan and
Eminem. *10k Hours* is his best work to date. Key tracks: “On Your Knees,”
“The Wrong Way,” “Listen & Learn.”

*The New Monday*
Shigeto

The best word to describe Shigeto's music is subterranean. The Ann Arbor
electronic producer mixes sax solos with barebones breakbeats, icy synths,
and existential raps. It's chillingly beautiful, and a refreshing take on a
genre that favors formula over innovation. Key tracks: “Goodbye Porkpie
Hat,” “In A Sentimental Mood,” “The Ballad of the Sad Young Men.”

*World Wide Funk*
Bootsy Collins

One of the godfathers of funk just dropped a record, and it's pretty much
exactly what you'd expect. Essential, time machine funk from the
endlessly charismatic Bootsy Collins. Oh, and the features on this are
ridiculous: Kali Uchis, Chuck D, Musiq Soulchild, and Stanley Clarke, just
to name a few. Key tracks: “Candy Coated Lover,” “Worth My While,” “Ladies
Nite.”
