*SHOW OF THE WEEK*

*IT'S FIVE O'CLOCK SOMEWHERE ~ with DJ Wink 182 & Ben Fridays @ 5-6 PM*

*GENRE: Rock, Indie Rock*
*Ben Weaver & Peter Churchill*
It's Five O'Clock Somewhere is a reference to both the duo's affection for
adult drinks—frequently a topic of coversation on air—and a Jimmy Buffett
song by the same name. Indeed, listening to It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere feels
like being whisked off to Margaritaville, but this time you've found that
shaker of salt. Known for their dashing charm and great music taste, it's
no wonder they're so popular. Tune in to their show to hear hits from
*Eagles* and *Johnny Cash.*
*FEATURED MUSIC*
*Everything Is Recorded*
Everything Is Recorded

If you love genre-bening music, look no further. This is an album about
isolation, or, more accurately, the illusion of isolation. Everything is
Recorded slowly entraps you in a carefully programmed journey through soul,
hip-hop, folk, classical, jazz, trap, and beyond. The project explores how
our emotions connect us, and how music is one of the most powerful bridges
between us. The album is also explores genre, and how, in a sense, all
lines between genre are illusory and superficial. “Close but Not Quite”
cements this theme, almost making fun of music’s ability to bring us
together us through our own feelings of isolation, especially in a modern
era where literally everything is recorded, consumed, and processed without
reflection. Deeply layered and soul-sampled beats doctored by Richard
Russell are in conversation with some of the most compelling voices on the
music scene, including Kamasi Washington, Syd, Sampha, and Ibeyi. Listening
to this album all the way through takes you through a dynamic journey
through our modern era, ending with the realization that we may not be as
alone as we think.
*6ix9ine*
DAY69

The rapper 6ix9ine is the product of the same factors that vaulted Lil Pump
to fame. Hailing from Brooklyn, 6ix9ine brings ignorant rap and aggressive,
full-throated rap up the coast. But really, his life is as strangely
captivating as his grimy beats. 6ix9ine is followed by fights and scandal
wherever he goes; the most recent was a brawl at LAX when he was jumped by
some Texas rappers outside his terminal just a few days before DAY69 was
released. And speaking of the album, it's a half hour of repetitive bars
and big hooks. No one is calling 6ix9ine a revolutionary, but the short
album has this underlying and secret talent. The "Gummo" rapper teams up
with Fetty Wap in KEKE to produce a trap track with more depth and success
than the rest of the album. It's a well done, agressive album, but
definitely a success for the genre and puts forward some sneaky-lit tracks.
