Hi all,

Just wanted to let you know about a fun event happening tonight — a
community contradance at the Williamstown Community Preschool! There is a
potluck beforehand that starts at 6:30, followed by the dance from
7:30-10:00. Feel free to come for all or part of the event, and bring your
friends!! This is a safe, comfortable, welcoming space for dancers of all

Gather around our table and our mic

If you've ever picked up an instrument in a roomfull of contra dancers, you
know there's nothing like it — feeling the music in your hands and a room
full of dancers moving to that rhythm.

This month, you're welcome to come play with us. North Berkshire Dance will
hold our monthly contra dance with a *community potluck* at 6:30 p.m. on
Saturday, February 8, and fiddler Annika Amstutz and pianist Becky
Hollingsworth on keyboard will lead an *all-comers band* — come and sit in,
come and listen, and come for a lively and joyful dance from 7:30 to 10:30
p.m. at the Williamstown Community Preschool.

We have people with us tonight who know the music in their bones and love
passing it on. *Andy Davis* calls traditional New England dances, plays
accordion and piano and composes his own tunes, and he has taught in the
contra dance community for many years.

*Annika Amstutz* co-directs the Fiddle Orchestra of Western Massachusetts
with David Kaynor and plays with bands throughout the valley with buoyant
energy. *Becky Hollingsworth *has kept the tempo in open bands and
encouraged many emerging musicians with her calm presence and warm sense of
humor — and many emerging dancers too. And for our dance they encourage
musicians to bring a list of tunes they know.

*NBCD will also hold a snack potluck halfway through the dance, and
everyone is welcome. (The school is a no-nuts zone.) Monthly dances
continue on second Saturdays. Admission is $12, or $5 for students and $25
