Talk:Novell NetWare
This page does not adequately differentiate between what you don't need Novell for and what you do. As an example of what you would use Novell for, it mentions iTunes music sharing which is purely tcp/ip based and doesn't need Novell at all. Novell does not let you connect to "the network," it lets you connect to a few network based services.
My bad...just thought i'd get the ball rolling and let other people smooth out the technicalities. i asked around about iTunes and whether it required NetWare and people seemed to think it probably did. Article edited.
REMOVED FROM MAIN PAGE:
"We wouldn't need Novell for accessing network folders or printers either if Windows had halfway competent networking built-in. So blame Microsoft."
COMENTS LIKE THAT BELONG IN THE DISCUSSION. thank you.
Not sure if I agree. This isn't Wikipedia so we don't need to be hung up about NPOV. And I'm pretty sure that my Linux box doesn't like Novell, yet it can still see the printers and Mathematica can still see the keyserver.
