Why is this page here? Well, it's here just in case anyone who doesn't know me happens to find my site, and for my friends and family back home who might be wondering what I've been up to.... HOWEVER, I'm home now, and I never got around to really writing this page during the second half of spring semester. No big deal, I'll work on a bit over the summer when the weather's bad or my friends are away.

First off, I have to apologize for the lack of pages on this site. You see, this whole site was created because I took a Computer Science class this past spring. So, while most people who find my homepage click on this page and the non-existing Photo Gallery, and maybe even the Links page, the real substance can be found through the Computer Science link. I know, I know, it may not sound thrilling, but that's where all of my labs and final project (though not completed because the "big plan" was a bit too big during Finals) can be viewed. So maybe some rainy day this summer, you'll decide to check that out....

For summer, I'm going to guess that most people looking at this site are going to be incoming first-years (as the college like to call you to be "politically correct"), since my comp sci class is over and I'm at home, and wandering around the Williams website is something that quite a few incoming first-years do. So, if you're one of the class of '04, and you have any questions, feel free to email me or ask a question on the WSO Conversation site.

I don't want to ramble on and on about myself on this page, because I think that it probably wouldn't be very interesting... but since I labeled this the page "all about me..." I better put something down. So, as I already said, I just finished my first year at Williams. I'm looking forward to the next, though right now I'm enjoying my summer A LOT because I haven't started working yet and the weather has been fabulous. When I first came home--exhausted after finals--I caught up on sleep, and then I got really, really bored. I missed being around all of my friends all of the time. Not to mention the fact that Vermont isn't exactly a place thriving with activity... but I got used to it, and have been enjoying having time to hike and bike, and especially being able to sleep in.

During my freshman year, I learned a lot... first, I am not a Chemistry person. Chemistry and I did not mix well. I'd like to point out to anyone who is planning on taking Chemistry next year that it is not a hyphenated course. That means you can get credit for the first semester without taking the second semester. This is wonderful. You may not think so now... you may think an intro science at Williams will be a great experience that you will end up enjoying. This may be the case, but I want to let you know ahead of time that you will not be alone if this turns out to be the case. Either way, you'll end up doing what's best for you, which is most important... just don't be afraid to let go of your dreams of being a great science scholar.

Second, I learned that I didn't want to play the same three sports that I had every season of every year for the past six years. Yes, I gave up cross-country, basketball, and track to play rugby. Can you believe it? Trading in varsity sports for a club game? It was worth it, for me. I had a great time with my team and learning the sport (and travelling to Ireland!!!), and I would definitely recommend that people consider giving it a try. I didn't really have to give up all of those other sports completely to play rugby either.... I played on an intramural basketball team, ran on the school's trails and around Williamstown, and even tried another new sport--broomball, during winter study. Though rugby may not be the new sport that you want to try at Williams, I think that college is an excellent time to try out new activities... give everything you're interested in a go, and then stick to what you like best.

Here are a few more things I learned... having a single in a suite is a wonderful thing, bad study habits don't disappear in college, you can go a really long time without doing laundry, it takes at least a semester and some quality time during winter study to form really strong friendships, Williams isn't the euporia it's made out to be in the brouchure--I'm sure that no college really is, Williamstown really is in the middle of nowhere, and that many of the things you thought you would do during your first year don't happen--and that many of the things you thought you wouldn't do during that year do happen.

When I have some time, I'll try to get some pictures up in my Photo Gallery... hopefully some of my rugby team's trip to Ireland, a few of my family, higlights from the Lehman West entry of '99-'00, and some of my friends here at home.
