I
have been working as a ceramic artist for 35 years and for almost that
long as a teacher of clayworking skills at various institutions (see "Background"
for my complete resume). I work and teach in southwestern Vermont at Oak
Bluffs Cottage Pottery, the home-studio I share with my wife and business
partner Susan Nykiel and our family.
My creative clay artwork for the last seven years has centered on ideas expressed in my unique Reassembled Hollow Ring Teapots. These functional and original works of art have been featured in recent international ceramic art competitions in the USA and in Asia. A photo of my Pink Pentagonal Cross-Section Teapot was published on the cover of the March 2002 Ceramics Monthly magazine, along with an article by Paul Park on pages 38-43 (available in the "Articles" section). To learn more about my fired clay artworks and to inquire about purchasing them, please visit the Teapots section, or select a teapot from the sample images below. Find out about my weekly pottery classes, read articles I have written, or check out recent exhibitions I have participated in by clicking on the menu buttons to your left and above. This web site is updated periodically to reflect recent events and honors in my career. I hope you will visit often! Breaking News: My teapot, Purple Foamy Whitecaps Reassembled Hollow Ring Teapot, was selected for The First Taiwan Ceramics Biennale and will be on exhibit from January 23 to June 13, 2004 at the Taipei County Yingge Ceramics Museum, Taipei, Taiwan. |
