Marked Routes

One of the great things about climbing on an indoor climbing wall is you can always make the climbs harder. In order to increase the difficulty of climbs we have marked certain routes on the different faces of the wall. A person climbing a marked route can only use the holds marked.

There are two types of marking material, tape and fabric. Each route has an associated card located at the bottom of the route. These cards contain the name of the route, designer, sample of the marking material, difficulty rating and a brief description of the climb. The difficulty rating is on a 5.x scale, where x is between 4 and 14, (14 being the most difficult). The routes have been rated by a consensus of climbers, this means a 5.10 climb might not be equivalent to a 5.10 climb anywhere else but hopefully they are fairly accurate . For more information on route rating see Climbing Dictionary Ratings and Grades(but be warned that this is an exterior site).
