U.R.G.E. OVERKILL

One hot day during the summer of '93, Tom Neely told me about this great new cd he had bought on a recomendation. He then played the first song for me and I was hooked. As luck would have it, the band came to the Trocadero in Philly that September and a bunch of my friends and I went to see them live. We got there early and managed to push our way to to the stage during the opening band. Once the music started, Urge took control of the crowd and put on a sensational show. The music had a lot harder edge than their sound on their records, pulling everyone into it with its intensity. Afterwards, we met them out back of the theater, and they turned out to be normal guys. They gave us some beers and even signed one kid's banana.

We saw U.R.G.E. a couple of months later at the same venue, and they were again superb. The crowd got into it and everyone had a great time.

One interesting U.R.G.E. sidenote, Nash hooked up with my good friend's sister while at Northwestern. In case you really cared...
