Willie Nelson

Very view people have a voice as distinctive as Willie's. It has a sound that conveys the feelings someone who has been through a lot. I'm not a big fan of the current country music scene, it all seems to be soft rock using country scales with every song sounds the same. Willie, however, is what country music should be. It is about the blues, getting drunk and smoking up on the White House roof.

Willie's guitar has almost as much character as his voice. Something should be said in this day and age of musicians constantly up grading to brand new equipment of an artist who doesn't sell out and stays loyal to his guitar

I met Willie for the first time in August, 1995. He was playing at the Valley Forge Music Fair and my dad and I went to see him. We had a connection with the lead singer of the great opening band, Asleep at the Wheel, and managed to get back stage passes. After Willie concluded his show, my Dad and went back hoping to catch a glimpse of him. We waited thirty minuts and finally gave up. In exiting out of the waiting room, we walked down some stairs and there he was just talking. My dad went to shock at being so close to his idol, and managed to mumble a response when he shook Willie's hand. I also shook his hand and said something to the effect of how I loved his music, got an autograph and left in an euphoric state. It was an amazing experience and it took several weeks for my dad and I to come down from that high.
