Simon Ungers' design entry was nearly as monumental as Christine Jackob-Marks'. He proposed a huge steel structure elevated by T-shaped rods. The structure would have the names of the concentration camps cut out of the steel. When the light shines through the holes, the names would appear on the ground. The main qualm the selection committee had with his design was his choice of camps.
