Town Square in Obernai

On June 28th the Criquis took us around to see some sights in Alsace. Our first stop was Obernai where we relaxed in a café. As you can see from the pictures, Obernai is a typically Alsacien town. It is also a popular tourist destination.

From there we went to the Montagne des Singes (Monkey Mountain). Look closely at the pictures below. Do you see the fences? I don't see them either. That's right, when you get to this place they let you into a very large pen and give you a handful of popcorn to feed the monkeys. How cool is that?

The last stop for the day was at one of my all time favorite places in Alsace: Haut-Kœnigsbourg . During the late 1800's Germany controlled Alsace and rebuilt and refurnished this castle. Today you can go there and see a fully decorated castle in prime condition. Since it was cloudy I refrained from taking the obscene number of pictures I took on my first visit to the castle in 1997.
