Epoch's Homepage

Three parts organic growth, one part judicious but brutal pruning.

The server that houses this site was the victim of a hacker attack, and many of my html files were lost. I will slowly be restoring them from backups, but in the mean time, please excuse any broken links.

Hi. I'm Michael "Epoch" Sullivan, and this is my homepage. Like many or most homepages, it's an eclectic mix of unfinished projects, inconsistent designs, and things which are of interest only to me, the author. Unlike many or most homepages, mine has existed and grown regularly for some six years now. I don't claim that this will make it any more useful or interesting to you, but it does make it larger and more diverse than many of its ilk.

The part of the site that I've been most consistent and diligent about updating and adding to is the gaming section. I have a section devoted to Bernie Hsiung's lovely Country of the Blind, a modern conspiracy/horror game in which I play, and to a bunch of past Amber games. I've recently added a frontpage to my various design-related projects called Sandor At The Zoo. And there's a good deal more.

I've decided to try my hand at a bit of serial writing, which we can figure will last maybe two or three additions. Enjoy it while it's here.

In the more quiescent portion of the page, there's Epochal Views, the pretentiously-titled index of a couple of photo-projects I've done.

And the rest of the page is dangerously out of date, meaning that it tends to give a lot of incorrect information, but, for what it's worth, my past projects include pages on various sci-fi and fantasy authors, most notably Larry Niven and Roger Zelazny. I've long had an interest in multi-user text games, but it's been years since I had an interest in keeping that information up-to-date. Largely because it was expected at the time, I used to have a page of link to other sites. Does anyone do that anymore, now that Google rules the world? Last, and almost certainly least, you can view autobiographical information, circa 1999, including the answer to the long-vexing question, Why choose a handle like "Epoch"?.

In case you're wondering, the above text was written on 9/12/2001. So, if the present date is particularly far from that, I reserve the right to be wildly inaccurate about which portions of the site are up-to-date and which aren't.
