Session 2
Random informs Mordred that Eric is not in his cell. Mordred is displeased.
Brand wakes up. Mordred rejoices.
Martin asks Lot to find out who of Random's men are watching Martin. Lot elects to do this by killing lots and lots of Random's men. Orlando makes snide comments.
Everyone gets in a Great Big Spy War.
Except for Jonas and Eleanore, who go camping in Garnath, looking for signs that the dragon might've come out of there. They don't find terribly much, though Jonas discovers some vaguely unsettling tracks.
Session 3
There's a pirate ship out and about, messing up Amber's shipping. Brand asks Gerard to deal with it.
Gerard fails to do so soon enough for Brand's taste. Brand publically humiliates Gerard. Gerard drinks heavily.
Brand commands Benedict to show up in court. Jonas and Eleanore undertake to make sure that Benedict knows of this.
Brand orders Benedict to take care of the pirate.
Fiona and Tsark have a brief conversation.
Benedict gets told to bring along Tsark and Mordred. Jonas and Eleanore volunteer to come along.
Benedict does sneaky things and locates the pirate, then tracks her down. There's a boarding action. The pirate captain is preternaturally good with a sword and whacks off Ben's arm before he kills her. (Aided by an untimely breakage of Ben's sword).
Various people panic. Orlando cackles.
Benedict goes off to be sullen in his estates. Various people check out the pirate's base and find not a whole lot of interest. The pirates seem reminiscient of Cymnea's (Benedict's mom's) people.
Session 4
Someone tries unsuccesfully to assassinate Tsark. Everyone theorizes about who did it for the rest of the session. There's lot of talking.
Lot builds up his army lots bigger than it already was.
Mordred arranges for forces in Begma to attack Lot's army.
Jonas and Eleanore petition to go check out Cymnea's old Shadow. Brand turns 'em down flat.
Session 5
Mordred finishes off arranging for an attack on Lot's forces. It happens. Lot ignores it.
Llewella shows Mordred some little baby dragons that she found. She's distressed. Mordred's distressed. Mordred tells Julian about it. Julian's not happy. Julian tells Brand. We don't know what Brand thinks.
Jonas gets Eleanore stuck with the job of interrogating the captured pirates. Random kills one of the prisoners by way of motivation. Eleanore is disgusted.
Someone shoots Jonas with a heavy crossbow, but doesn't kill him. It seems to be the same class of person who tried to kill Tsark. More conspiracy theories abound.
Lots of talking.
Brand decides to go on a multi-month sabbatical. He announces this to everyone and says that Mordred will be Regent while Brand is off gallivanting around. Mordred looks stoic.
Session 6
Brand leaves. People try to follow him. Brand, clinically proven to be smarter than your average bear, Trumps. Followers look sulky.
Lot, Deirdre, Caine, Tsark, and Orlando have a pool party and plot against Mordred. They resolve to have Tsark try to push out the length of his leash, and for Lot to invade Begma while Orlando stirs up the GC against Amber.
Jonas petitions Mordred to check out Cymnea's Shadow. Mordred is somewhat more diplomatic about doing it, but gives the same flat "no" that Brand did.
Lot, Orlando, Mordred, and Random start jockeying around feinting towards Begma and seeing who can wring the most political advantage from it. Eventually, a Begman civil war develops, Amber puts in some troops to stabilize the monarchy, and then Lot invades, declaring his support for the rebels.
Julian and Gerard register some general distaste for the whole Begma thing.
The various Rebels talk to Jonas and Eleanore about their feelings on the whole matter.
Tsark finally learns the language of the prisoner pirates and quizzes them extensively on their homeland. They are reasonably cooperative, but seem to be holding things back. And they admit to having a reasonable love of deception.
Session 7
Orlando and Lot plot to assassinate their own delegates at the Begma peace negotiations, and blame it on Amber, thus guaranteeing continued civil war.
Tsark decides that he's not being enough of a jerk about his continuing lack of freedom of movement, and starts beating up guards in "sparring" sessions. Mordred tells him to cut it out. He reduces the number of guards he beats up. Mordred tells him, no really, cut it out. He reduces the number again.
Mordred unexpectedly shows up at the beginning of the peace negotations, and outlines his ideas of what's equitable. He stays for a short Q&A session. Orland gets wind of this and tells Lot, who Trumps in and interrupts the Q&A to, essentially, publically harangue Mordred. Mordred decides he is best served by not getting into the debate and leaves.
Mordred tells Tsark that he's just begging for a vacation in the Scenic Amber Dungeons. Tsark threatens to leave entirely. Mordred strongly implies that this will not be good for Tsark's continued well-being.
Mordred has Random explicitely tell Tsark that leaving will not be good for Tsark's continued well-being.
Fiona gives Mordred a Trump each of Orlando, Lot, Deirdre, Caine, Tsark, and Eric. Mordred drops them on the Pattern after he notices Lot doing a location Trump jump.
Orlando's troops attack the delegates despite the increased secruity Mordred ordered after Lot showed up. All of the rebel delegates except one are killed, as are all of Orlando's men. Random somehow figures out where Orlando is, and attacks him, twice. In both cases, Orlando is able to escape via Trump.
Mordred makes sure that the surviving delegate survives, and he and Random inform the surviving delegate that he was attacked by Lot's men. (Some lies about the details go on here).
Eleanore calls Mordred and lets slip to him that Brand is with her. She's looking for Jonas, who tried to call her and seemed to get cut off. Various people are called. Nobody's seen Jonas for some time. Some people get mildly worried.
Session 8
Jonas, after doing something super-secret last session, makes it known that he's findable again, at Benedict's lodge.
Mordred and Orlando continue to proxy-spar over the situation in Begma. Mordred orders Random to have some of Orlando's more troublesome provacteurs killed. Orlando brings in more help, and starts killing Random's agents personally.
Random tells Mordred that Orlando's getting personally involved. Mordred replies that it's open season on Orlando. Random asks if he can bring Fiona in on the situation. Mordred gives permission.
Random and Fiona attempt to assassinate Orlando, who escapes with heavy wounding. Apparantly annoyed, Fiona starts killing random people in the streets of Begma. After a quick conference with Mordred, Random tries to cover up the event by killing several key witnesses and setting the block on fire.
All hell proceeds to break lose.
Julian threatens to walk if there's another family assassination attempt. Brand orders Mordred to encourage the war in Begma. Caine disappears. Lots of secret stuff occurs. Everybody talks with everyone.
The civil war in Begma happens. Lot's army turns the Begman regulars into neatly-chopped piles of barbeque. Julian's army proves more resistant to Lot's forces. Six weeks of this goes by. Then Brand rides in on the flank with a big Shadow army.
Session 9
Benedict delivers a note to Mordred saying that Jonas has decided to take a vacation, and will not be responding to Trump for a while.
The war in Begma goes on, with Lot spending a lot of time trying to stabilize his position against Brand. Lot tells Orlando that he's interested in continuing the war for a while, if only to see the current generaling styles of Brand and Julian, but rejects the idea of broadening the conflict unless they can get more Family allies.
Eleanore reaquaints herself with Amber after leaving her army to Brand. Orlando and she snipe at each other. She gets paranoid one night and gets out of Gerard's manor, fearing an assassination attempt. Nobody ever really finds out whether or not she was right.
Mordred spends a lot of time politicking with the family.
Eleanore gets attacked in her tub in Castle Amber by two guys, doing the crossbow and knife thing. They are, however, noticeably different from the assassins who targeted Jonas and Tsark earlier. Eleanore is wounded, but kills one would-be assassin and captures another. She goes off to get some healing in, and Gerard asks Mordred to assign someone other than Random to the investigation, which Mordred agrees to do. Gerard states that he will ask Benedict to do it.

Session 2
"You could always have been talking to Deirdre." - Orlando
"I suppose. Alright, Deirdre, what do you want?" - Tsark
"You. Out." - Fiona
"Okay." - Jonas
"You going to listen at the door or anything?" - GM
"Nope." - Jonas
"Good day, sir." - Eleanore
"Sire." - Bernie (player)
"I have an accent." - Eleanore
"As you know, it couldn't have been me since I am barred from Amber city and castle." - Lot
"You guys and subtlety: whack, whack, whack." - Madeline (player)
"Remember, the characters are far more subtle than the players." - Eric
(player)
"Maybe not all that subtle." - Jeff (player)
"How many people can Orlando blame the dragon on?" - Jeff (player)
"Hey, dad, I'm going to traipse off to the Dark Circle with Jonas. I don't know why." - Eleanore
"I try the thing that he couldn't do." - Madeline to GM
"I've been working on this for fifty, seventy, eighty years. Random has many,
many, many spies." - Orlando
"And I'm going to eliminate as many of them as I can." - Lot
"Now I'm listening." - Orlando
"[Don't mind us,] we're fighting." - Madeline, re: Lot and Orlando
"He wins." - GM
"You know Ben, he never talks." - Martin
"You know Brand, he always does." - Jonas
"There's nothing interesting that ever happens in Shadow." - Madeline (player)
"Hey, Jonas, what's your dad been up to?" - Eleanore
"Who cares?" - Jonas
"Schlwip.--That's the sound that trumps should make." - Jeff
Session 3
"[Julian's] been avoiding you." - GM
"I've been avoiding him, too, so it's probably been pretty easy." -
Jonas
"Why do I have spies in Amber if not to tell me the latest fashion trends?" - Orlando, deadpan
"What's Tsark's situation?" - Eleanore
"I dunno. He'll probably get killed as soon as Gerard gets pissy and
Brand starts killing people." - Jonas
"You know why there has been a recent spate of murders?" - Caine
"I would presume there was a large group of people who needed to be
killed." - Orlando
"It's just that most everyone else has taken off. I have to go somewhere for conversation." - Fiona, explaining to Tsark why she's talking to him
"Actually, in this version of Amber, all members of the royal family are
given the courtesy title 'Prince' or 'Princess'." - GM
"In recognition that anyone can be king, if they just kill enough
people! Arr! Arr!" - Bernie
"[Benedict] seems to be doing something cunning. None of you have any idea what." - GM
"Your assistance would be appreciated-- Benedict is in trouble." -
Mordred
"What kind of trouble?" - Jonas, going through the Trump
"Oh-- that kind of trouble." - Jonas, seeing Benedict sans one arm
"However, a person can bite off their own tongue, choke on the blood..."
- GM
"Mark that down on my list of ways not to die." - Damian
"This is certainly not the outcome I would have wished, Benedict, my
sympathies." - Brand
"Benedict looks stoic." - GM
Lot informs Orlando that Benedict lost his arm after his sword inexplicably shattered. A few chatty moments later, and they hang up... "click And then I laugh. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!" - Orlando
"It occurs to me to wonder whether Martin has acquired this girlfriend as
a blind for something else..." - Orlando
"You have a fundamentally suspicious mind, Orlando." - Lot
"It's just that there's so little to do out in Shadow! Seriously, I
don't see how you cope." - Orlando
"Or could it be that Benedict arranged to have his arm chopped off so he'd have an excuse to be pissed at Brand!" - Bernie
Session 4
"I spend a lot of my time yawning, because I've heard better from my father." - Mordred
"Martin's kind of..." - Lot
"I know." - Orlando
"Has Lot gotten any agents close enough to me to annoy me?" - Mordred
"Isn't that a question only you can answer?" - Bernie (player)
"We don't know if it was Benedict being good ol' unlucky Benedict or..." - Eleanore
"[Mordred's] really more of a retarded little prick than an insane megalomaniac like his father, so it stands to reason that their styles would be different." - Deirdre
"You both hear a horrendous crash, as of a BIG piece of stone crashing into
another BIG piece of stone." - GM
"So this would be Gerard in a pith helmet, right?" - Dave (player)
"Heh. Redecorating, Tsark?" - Random
"Yeah, I'm going with the 'dead guy' motif." - Jeff (player)
"I've taken Julian there, I've taken Benedict there." - Mordred
"Okay, if it's good enough for Julian and Benedict, it's good enough for me."
- Tsark
"Last time I saw [Tsark], he was walking around half-naked with a bolt
sticking out of his shoulder." - Eleanore
"We've all been there." - Jonas
"Any ideas who would want you dead?" - Random
"I don't know. Don't you keep better track of that than I do?" - Tsark
"Did you do something to piss [Random] off?" - Jonas
"Yeah, I exist." - Julian
"If you see Benedict, you'll note that he has shaving cuts." - GM
"If you die, I'll feel very guilty." - Orlando
"If I die, I'll feel very bad." - Tsark
Session 5
"The only one who would want to shoot Jonas is Julian." - Madeline
"We can set up another naval disaster and we can get the big dumb one
this time." - Deirdre
"But we would get Eleanore out of the deal." - Orlando
"Oh, good, the little dumb one, too!" - Deirdre
Session 6
"Eventually I want to learn to say 'No shit' so when he says 'Far away' I can sarcastically say 'No shit' and have him describe it..." - Eleanore
"You sit around, have a few drinks? Anyone want to talk lucky about
the old days?" - GM
"I think I need a few more drinks first." - Orlando
"Well, what other nasty decisions can we throw [Mordred's] way?" - Orlando
"Abortion!" - Jeff
"If you want to prevent a civil war-- that's not my area of expertise." - Julian
"I know you way too well to know you're going to just sit there and be
happy." - Jonas
"Well I won't be happy, per se..." - Lot
"The thing is, Lot and I are about the only two in the family who are stuck on one side; and things can't go on like this forever... So since we can't change sides, I think everyone else ought to come over to ours." - Orlando
Session 7
"After we kill a few of them, the rest will like us even more!" -
Orlando
"You know, Orlando, sometimes I get the idea that you're not very nice."
- Lot
"I'll go find whoever's following me and give them a hard time. Somebody needs to have a bad day." - Tsark
"You thoroughly hurt a guard." - GM
"Ok, you next." - Tsark, pointing to another
"I think I'll send a note: 'Could you please keep your beatings to, say,
one a day.'" - Mordred
"I send back a note: 'But one isn't enough!'" - Tsark
"I am pulling my blows. None of them are dead." - Tsark
"I don't actually really want to kill Mordred." - Lot
"Well, no one really wants to kill Mordred. He's just kinda in the
way." - Orlando
"Is there proof?" - Tsark
"Do I need it?" - Mordred
"Why don't I kill you right now?" - Tsark
"There are guards that would come." - Mordred
"Would they be here in time? Want to try?" - Tsark
"What you [Eleanor] need is some reason to stay in Shadow for months or years. --Have a kid!" - Orlando
"yawn. I was asleep. ...And you sicced Deirdre on me. - long pause - I don't think I'll ever forgive you." - Caine
"Did you pass on my conspiracy theory?" - Orlando
"No." - Tsark
"Damn you." - Orlando
"No no no--other people might [call Random]." - Mordred
"Yeah, right. Who?" - GM
Session 8
"The strike team was clearly under orders of death rather than
capture."
- GM
"Note to self: find knockout gas that works here." -
Mordred
"Note to players: not going to happen." - GM
"Well, I seem to recall it was open season on Orlando before; I
don't see
that anything has changed..." - Mordred
"Can I bring other members of the family in on it?" -
Random
"Who?" - Mordred
"Fiona." - Random
"Eeeew." - Jeff
"[Brand] hasn't killed anybody's wife lately." -
Llewella
"Nobody's had a wife lately!" - Orlando
"We're fast learners." - Llewella
"I can't kill [Fiona] at all? Not even a little bit?" - Orlando to GM
"Ok, I minimized our exposure." - Random, referring to a number of murders and setting the city on fire
"[Fiona] seems to be cracking the ribs now, by putting the knife
under and
popping them up one by one." - GM
"...I think I'm going to declare discretion the better part of
valor." -
Mordred
"There's some seriously mutilated bodies here." - GM
"Oh, darn. I recognize that one. She was good in bed." -
Tsark
"Apparently Fiona tried to kill Orlando, with Random's help, and then killed some people in Begma, then killed some people in Amber castle--the latter, I think, without Random's help." - Julian
"I mean, Mordred shouldn't be using Fiona to help kill people.
It's
exploitative." - Julian
"Fiona--Julian's dangerous little dumpling." - Bernie
"Eight hours? That's not so bad." - Mordred, of the time it
takes for the entire family to hear of Orlando's near-murder
"That's incredibly slow!" - Madeline
"It's because Orlando's been knocked out." - Bernie
"Episode 8: title: Fuuuuuuuck!" - GM
"You couldn't keep Fiona in a box. She'd ooze out of the openings." - Jonas
"We have so many bad options!" - Eleanore, brightly
"You need a ride back to Begma?" - Mordred
"Just give me the damn Trump." - Julian
"Look on the bright side: this time you're in the thick of things." - GM to Mordred
"It's a pity so many of the people I like don't like me." - Orlando
"I'm getting pretty pissed about assassins in the castle." -
Tsark
"I know nothing about assassins in the castle." -
Mordred
"I'm sure you delegate such things." - Tsark
"All the redheads were manic-depressive except maybe
Mordred." - GM
"Mordred's just depressive." - Bernie
Session 9
After a discussion of Eleanore's bringing an army to fight Lot and Orlando:
"I don't think you should try to kill Eleanore, though." - Lot
"I am not a monster!" - Orlando
"I never really saw anything in Eleanore." - Lot
"That's because you have no taste!!" - Orlando, storming out
"Huh, I thought he was only interested in guys..." - Lot, muttering to himself
Eleanore Trumps Orlando
"Hi." - Orlando
"Want to talk?" - Eleanore
"No." - Orlando, hanging up
"Eleanore would have spent some time drunk, but she's kinda paranoid right now." - Damian
"Martin is terrible at keeping up with correspondence." - GM
"He might get better now that he's got a wife to clean up and lay his
Trumps out in the same place every night." - Damian
"So, Eleanore, in the morning Gerard explodes. The house collapses.
There's a major structural beam embedded in your shoulder. What do you
do?" - GM
"Well, I'm feeling a bit hungry--I think I'll chew through the arm!" -
Eleanore
"Ring Ring--it's Martin." - GM
"Sure, I'm taking calls from Martin." - Mordred
"He stabs you! Over the Pattern!" - Bernie
Mordred, Brand, and Random are all out of the castle
"So, you want to kill everybody and set yourself up as dictator?" - GM
"Tempting, but no." - Tsark
Eleanore's just been badly wounded.
"Had to justify finding the medical shadow..." - Dave
"Hey, it was good timing!" - Eleanore
"Almost scarily good..." - Orlando, suspiciously
"So, Tsark, what are you doing? Just hanging out in Eleanore's room?" -
GM
"I'll keep an eye on Mister Sleepy and Mister Dead." - Tsark
"You think Mister Dead is about to try something." - GM
"I'm ready for him! I'll flatten him with the bathtub! ...I've been
practicing my tub-fu." - Tsark
"Kinda strange that they're trying [to assassinate] all of us [younger ones]. But then, most of the
older people aren't around the castle much." - Tsark
"Fiona is. Maybe someone'll get the bitch." - Gerard
"Mordred." - Gerard
"Yes." - Mordred
"Someone has made an attempt on my daughter's life." - Gerard
"Mordred frowns." - Dave, Mordred's player
"Hello, Tsark." - Mordred
"Fancy finding you at the site of yet another assassination attempt!" -
Madeline
