Sessions 22 Logs and Quotes

Eleanore is on the field of Arden, with Deirdre (dying), Julian (dying), and Gerard (lost a leg, but stable). She tries to contact Llewella, fails, then Trumps Gerard and Julian through to her medical Shadow. She leaves Deirdre as-is.

Gawain takes charge of the situation in Castle Amber, ordering Lot and Orlando taken down to the prison. He and Victoria confer (one-sidedly), and Victoria calls Fiona. Fiona comes through, and Gawain sends her down to check on the arrangements for Lot amd Orlando. Gawain Trumps Eleanore and goes to her medical Shadow to get his arm looked at and to check in on Gerard and Julian. Gerard's doing fine, except that he's missing a leg. Julian is dying. He's in cardiac arrest and isn't breathing, though the doctors have him on life support, but his internal injuries are numerous.

Back at the castle, Victoria brings Mercy through to keep an eye on things (!), and then goes back to the field. The guards report that Lot got free and is down in the basement, and Gawain (back at the Castle) has Random organize a search for Lot. Orlando is safely stuffed into the Trump-proof cells.

Victoria, Gawain, and Job try to deal with the horrendous mess which is the battle in Arden. They fall back a lot, and then a lot more, and basically spend the day doing that.

Meanwhile, Tsark returns to the battle, where he finds Grayson in charge. Grayson says that he was through for a conference with Martin when the Trumps were jammed. Tsark finds out that they found Deirdre suffocating in some mud, and rescued her, but she's in a coma. Tsark rejoins the beating the hell out of people brigade.

Saul turns up in the castle, apparantly Trumped there by Fiona. Lots of people start wondering who in hell he is. Gawain gets him a room and whatnot, and somebody immediately follows that up by getting him a crossbowman to shoot at him. Saul handily dispatches the crossbowman. Random says he'll look into the assassination attempt, but that it's low on the Big List of Things To Do.

At the end of the day, it transpires that Lot has managed to get down to the poorly maintained, poorly mapped lower parts of the dungeon, and is evading capture. Random suggests that it's effectively impossible to get him under those circumstances.

Victoria and Tsark talk some, and Victoria reveals that Mordred is dead, among other things.

Gawain and Grayson talk some, not very succesfully negotiating with each other. The Loyalists keep all the of the Rebel Trumps jammed.

Jurt and Dara get sick of waiting to figure out what's happened, and Dara goes through a place Trump of Arden, then physically hoofs it to the Rebel HQ. She and Tsark talk a bit, and then bring Jurt into it. Jurt suggests that a raid on the castle might be a good idea while the Loyalists are reeling from their losses. This gets promoted to a very good idea once someone figures out that Gerard and Julian are both out of it for the time being (the GM can't remember precisely when this information was transmitted).

Orlando makes a fuss in his cell. The guards ignore him. Eleanore comes down and talks to Orlando through his cell door. Then Gawain joins them.

Gawain spends much of the night trying to find Lot down in the lower basement, to no avail. He sleeps down there.

Victoria and Llewella discuss pulling out and what they stand to gain, and don't come up with any really thrilling options.

The next morning, the (free) Rebels conference, and sort of tentatively suggest that their candidate is Tsark right now. Tsark talks to Gawain and they don't really come to any major conclusions.

The Rebels decide to raid the castle in two groups. A group led by Tsark goes to get Mordred's Trumps. A group led by Dara goes to free Orlando and (they think) Lot. Tsark gets to Mordred's office, but is confronted by Saul when he's there. Saul and Tsark work out a deal whereby Tsark leaves and doesn't take the Trumps with him. He spends a good deal of time getting out of there. Meanwhile, Gawain and Random get to the scene. Just as Tsark's leaving, they hear news that there's another raid on in the basement. Gawain makes snotty comments, then rushes down to said basement.

Tsark Trumps out. Meanwhile, Dara rescues Orlando, and finds, to her surprise, that Lot's not down there too. Orlando and Dara (and the raiding party) start to rush back to the "outside of Trump-blocked" range, but their party is split in two by more Amberite guards. Orlando gets free and Trumps out, Dara escapes back towards the Pattern.

Eleanore notices that the usual guards aren't by the door to the Pattern, checks inside, and sees Dara traversing it. She sends a message to Gawain and starts walking the Pattern herself. She's faster at it than Dara.

Gawain and Saul arrive in time to watch the people do the Pattern Walk. After the Second Veil, Dara tells Eleanore to get the hell back, and Eleanore doesn't, so Dara throws a kama at Eleanore. Eleanore mostly parries it, but gets a cut on her arm. She notices that when her blood hits the Pattern, part of the Pattern gets erased.

Eleanore throws a knife into Dara's back. It hits, but is slowed by the armor, and doesn't seem to do Dara much harm. It does do the Pattern a significant amount of harm, and Eleanore discovers the joy which is walking through someone else's Pattern-damage.

At the end of the Third Veil, Eleanore gets up to sword range with Dara and smacks her in the back of the head. Dara stumbles, but she stumbles off of the Pattern into the middle, and so that works out for her. She teleports out.

Eleanore finishes her Patternwalk and sulks.

Dara gets back to the rebel camp and sulks.

Victoria and Job go on honeymoon.

Saul tells Gawain that he's not going to be taken seriously for the Throne unless he's taken the Pattern.

Gawain walks the Pattern, unsuccesfully, teleports out, blacks out.

Eleanore, Fiona, and Llewella notice a disturbance in the force.

Orlando recruits Tsark, goes down into the dungeons of Amber and tries to find Lot. Drops "care packages" for him.

Saul goes down to the dungeon and beats the snot out of Orlando's men. Orlando Trumps out.

Gawain wakes up in Avalon, rather amnesiac. Makes idiot of himself to various locals, has bluffing-based Trump conversations with several people, including Fiona. Fiona decides this whole thing's hilarious, and feeds his paranoia.

Various people Trump Gawain. Random fills Gawain in.

Saul goes back down into dungeons and finds some of the care packages.

Caine hedges about supporting Tsark.
