Log 9
The session opened with Random calling people into a meeting. It was
now apparant that the Golden Badness was even more of an issue than it
had last seemed. The Elders (finally) decided to take action.
Bleys, Flora, Jamie, and Gavin reported that the infiltration of
Arzhen's organization seemed fairly progressed. Fiona commented a bit
on the nature of their abilities. It was discovered that each Cat
Critter had a large, fresh scar on one arm, and it was hypothesized
that some form of blood transfusion was the method by which they had
gained their Pattern abilites.
With that in mind, and the comments by the young'uns about the new
Shadow Complex which they had found, pretty much everyone trooped off
to investigate the Complex. When they got there, Bleys and Fiona
started to work on piercing the Ward about it, and everyone else sat
back and looked useless.
Eventually, Bleys and Fi opened up the Ward, and they and Benedict
stepped through it. Adria kept an eye on them via Pattern Lens. When
they got there, Bleys and Fi started to do sick things with scrying,
and Benedict and Adria kept an eye on the local area. Then all hell
broke loose. Adria spotted some golden flashes, and suddenly the door
behind them had closed, and Fiona was seemingly stunned. Golden
sorceries were converging on everyone with extreme rapidity, and the
people outside were only then alerted by Adria. Some confusion
followed, but the long and the short of it was that Bleys got out, and
Fiona, Benedict, and Julian ended up inside, and their Trumps were
warm.
The troops went back to Amber to regroup. While the Elders were
arguing, the cousins decided to have a walk down to the currently
captured Raksasha and see if they couldn't pump it for some more
information. When they got there, the thing had just been killed.
They cousins gave chase, and eventually, primarily through the work of
Gwenyth and Janna, caught a second Raksasha who had apparantly
murdered the first. Adria worked her will on the assassin, and
discovered that it had killed its comrade in order to prevent the
second's leaking information about the assassination attempts that
would be going on, um, tonight. Ooops.
Like a shot, the PC's headed off towards the Royal wing of the
palace. Gwenyth got there first and narrowly prevented an
assassination of Random. A few well placed Trump calls and some
combat managed to stop the plot before it really got going, and Castle
Amber was purged of Raksasha.
After this, Bleys got something of an itching to make sure that
nothing of that sort would happen on his territory, and he brought
Gavin and Jamie back to the Golden Circle to help get the infiltrators
out of his organization.
The Raksasha apparantly became more wary in the intervening time, and
were getting harder to find. But, eventually, Jamie tracked a group
of them into a ware house, and was spying on them when she got a Trump
contact. Because it seemed weak and like it was getting through a
Trump barrier, she let it through and found it was Caine. She pulled
him through, and he kind of flopped on the ground, unconscious, and
gave away her position.
Jamie demonstrated that she'd been steadily improving at combat by
doing a nice number on three Raksasha and three humans, and then
carted Caine back to Bleys, who informed her that Caine was her father.
Caine, once he recovered consciousness, explained that he'd spent some
time infiltrating the Raksasha, and that they got their orders from
Geffemo, who was, as far as he could tell, a Shadow Sorceror who had
found an artifact of some power -- on the scale of the Jewel of
Judgement. Caine had been unable to tell what that artifact was.
After this news had been given to the rest of the Amberites, the
session broke...
