Throw out everything you know about the Logrus. It's different from all that.
The Logrus sits in the middle of a standing, permenant, maelstrom. Few know what it looks like, and fewer still are initiated in its mysteries. Yet its prominence in the culture of Chaos is undisputed, if for no other reason than its position as the hub of the Ways.
The Logrus is black, jet black, real black, black like that spaceship in The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, black like snow isn't. It has no "tendrils," nor loose ends of any kind each of its paths turns inward and terminates in another of its kind. However, the Logrus is constantly moving and changing. Like the Pattern, it is a two-dimensional enscription on the ground.
The Logrus enables freedom and movement. Unlike their counterparts, Logrus initiates aren't very good at manipulating what is, but they're extremely good at getting where they want to be, or getting what they want.
No Logrus Powers Work Beyond Ygg! Though they did work on the area that the Black Road came to take up. Which is how the Black Road was created in the first place. The Chaosites call Ygg "Tarsh," which means "The Sentinal."
No Shapeshifting is required to master the Logrus!. Though blood of the Noble Clans of Chaos is.
Basic Logrus
Cost: 30 pts
Prerequisites: None
Allows: Hell-ride, Summon, Track
Basic Logrus allows Shadowwalking. Unlike Pattern-based Shadowwalking, it's not possible to follow a Logrus initiate's Shadowwalking simply by keeping them in sight, though physical contact will do the job (or extremely close quarters. Clothes don't prohibit "contact.") If a Logrus-wielder wishes to bring someone else through Shadow, they must hold the hand of their guest. Shadowwalking with Logrus is about twenty five percent faster than Shadowwalking with an equivalent study of Pattern.
Hellride
Cost: 5 pts
Prerequisites: Basic Logrus
Allows: Black Path
Very much like the initiates of the Pattern, Logrus wielders can learn to move more quickly through Shadow if their physical speed increases. However, they still can't lead through Shadow without contact. The twenty-five percent speed advantage continues.
Summon
Cost: 10 pts
Prerequisites: Basic Logrus
Allows: Black Path, Deliver, Sense
By concentrating on the Logrus Sign, one can draw an object from nearbye Shadow to onesself. The object in question must be inanimate, and clearly visualizable. This process is fastest and most accurate when one is seeking a broadly defined, common object ("a sword"), rather than a unique or highly complex object ("a microcomputer shaped exactly like Greyswandir, with the capacity for speech and limited reason, and a diamond edge"), and some objects may simply not be found within the "range" of a Logrus wielder (range is a function of Psyche and Logrus skill).
This power may be used to apport nearbye objects to the hands of the Logrus Wielder, if they are relatively still. (You could remove the sword from Benedict's scabbard as he stood in conversation, but not from his hand as he fought). All summoned objects appear in the hands of the Logrus Wielder.
Track
Cost: 5 pts
Prerequisites: Basic Logrus
Allows: Sense
This is the ability to follow the tracks fo another Logrus wielder for some time after they pass through Shadow. The track fades eventually, but initiates with higher Psyches and/or Logrus skills can follower older and older paths.
Black Path
Cost: 3 pts
Prerequisites: Hellride and Summon
Allows: Permenant Black Path
A Logrus wielder may learn to press the power of the Sign in front of him, creating a path through Shadow. The traces of the sign blight vegetation, cool air, and darken shadows in the affected area, causing a change in appearance that is quite noticable. Black Paths are usually the width of a game trail.
Once a Black Path has been created, anyone can enter it at either termination point, or anywhere along its length, and travel in either direction across it. Movement along a Black Path is very quick, twice as fast as a moderately skilled Logrus Master might Shadowwalk. However, creating a Black Path is time consuming and taxing, so most Logrus Wielders do not use this power for personal locomotion. However, it is unparalled in moving along masses of people who are not Logrus initiates.
Black Paths last between a quarter and one half of an hour, depending on local conditions. Once a Path has been opened in a given place, it becomes easier to open it again in the future. It is possible to widen a Path, but much more demanding.
Sense
Cost: 5 pts
Prerequisites: Summon and Track
Allows:
By calling for the Sign and looking through it, those with this power can see all manner of invisible constructs and the like.
Deliver
Cost: 10 pts
Prerequisites: Summon
Allows: Weaken
The reverse of summoning, it is possible to push an object one has in hand to a known destination. As Trump is unknown in the Courts, this is one of the better means of getting messages to people.
A Logrus Master's range is limited (govered by Logrus skill and Psyche), but within that range, he is formidable, for there are many things that you would not like to appear near or, more to the point, over you. However, this power is somewhat slow, and its use tends to "fritz" complex devices, so delivering explosives is unreliable. It is strenuous to deliver large or heavy objects.
Weaken
Cost: 4 pts
Prerequisites: Deliver
Allows: Permenant Black Path
By imposing the Sign over something relatively close (within, say, twenty feet), the Logrus Master can weaken that "something." Somethings can be objects, magical constructs, or even creatures or people. Magical structures tend to fall apart, objects tend to rust, rot, or decay, and creatures develop things like heart trouble or liver failure, lesions of the skin, and similar malaise.
However, this process is slow, and requires a target which isn't moving around, which, in practice, makes it not-very-useful against creatures and people. It is an excellent way of, for example, dealing with manacles or inconveniant bars, given a bit of time.
Permenant Black Path
Cost: 3 pts
Prerequisites: Black Path and Weaken
Allows:
Like Black Path, but permenant. Or at least has a life span measured in years.
