Modifications and Changes
What I did: I left Logrus pretty much alone. Like Pattern, I kept
the basic ability intact, and only divided up the Advanced powers.
Because of the prohibitive cost of Shapeshifting and Logrus, I lowered
the requirements of Shapeshifting (in accordance with my partial
powers rules). I did remove the physical defense ability from basic
Logrus, and the ability to animate Logrus tendrils from the advanced
power. In order to justify the cost of Advanced Logrus, in my
opinion, Demon Summoning must be a useful ability. If you don't want
people to summon demons, add something to Advanced Logrus, because
it's practically all there is, at this point.
What I would do if I were doing it over again: Even at 70 points, the
Shapeshifting plus Logrus costs are really high. I think I would
split up the basic power down into a 30 or 35 points power and a
couple of partials on top of that. With the base power, it would
probably become impossible to walk towards something which you could
not exactly define (ie, it would be possible to walk towards 'A
sword,' but not towards, 'The owner of this sword') and to use Logrus
Tendrils in combat.
A prerequisite to getting any Logrus abilities whatsoever is the
Automatic Shapeshifting power and at least twenty five points in the
Shapeshifting power somewhere. After
that, like Pattern, the first
level is received basically in lump sum after walking the Logrus. As
such, it is quite expensive.
Special Note: Ten points off the second power if you get both
Pattern and Logrus, because their major abilities (Shadowwalking) are
duplicated.
Special Note: I've had some new thoughts on Shadowwalking
with the Logrus. Here are details on Black
Pathways
Basic Logrus
requires: Nothing
costs: 45 points
This is as printed in the Amber book. I generally make Shadowwalking
with Logrus slower than with Pattern.
Summon Demons
requires: Basic Logrus
costs: 3 points
Summon, but not control. It's very dangerous to only have this power.
Control Demons
requires: Summon Demons
costs: 7 points
The ability to control demons. Very useful if you've just summoned
them. The book gives fairly good guidelines regarding the time it
takes to summon such things, though I would progressively reduce those
times with higher Logrus skills. I also did not allow people to use
the multipliers (Named & Numbered, etc.) in demon summoning without an
additional power.
Edit Shadow
requires: Basic Logrus
costs: 5 points
As described in the book. Includes warding a Shadow against Trump or whatnot.
Summon Primal Chaos
requires: Basic Logrus
costs: 5 points
As described in the book.
