Tonight we were at a friend's house and another friend of mine got a call on his cell phone. He picked it up and the girl on the other end of the line was surprised that he had reception. Apparently he was supposed to be elsewhere this weekend, where the phone would have no reception. She had called just to leave a message on his cell phone. So he told her to call his house where he wasn't, so she could leave a message there.
Occasionally, when people ask to speak to me on the phone, I'll sarcastically reply, "I'm sorry, I'm here right now, can I take a message?" I never thought I'd see it happen in real life. Technology may not create the bizarre situations, but it certainly helps.
Meanwhile, I finally went for a long walk again tonight. I had meant to do some walking every night this summer, but sickness set me off schedule last week. Walking at night is just wonderful, and I noticed tonight that it filled me with the same feeling of triumph that I got last night when I defeated Ganon on the Zelda for Gamecube. I should try to walk every night, because it's one of the few things I enjoy that isn't bad for me. People who live locally (or given to visiting) who read this before the summer has expired ought join me for a nighttime walk. I'd love the company, and it would help make sure I get out at night.
