June 5, 2003

Tom, that paragon of pickle punishment and artist of awesome animations, has moved out. As of June the first, he has packed up and left the Moldy Mansion. This saddens me to some degree, as it's nice to have a friend around, and Tom is an amusing fellow. But, hopefully his departure will impel me to be more pro-active in dragging other friends around. And as for amusement, Tom will no doubt gather an amusing story or two over the course of the next few months, because he is living in a tent.

Turning his back not only on me and the Moldy Manse, but shunning the entire concept of paying rent, Tom has decided to spend the summer living in a tent. Tent rhymes with rent, but it's less expensive, which is certainly an advantage. The disadvantage is that there have apparently been many bear sightings recently, and that's no joke (although it is very funny). Also, from a tent there is no Internet access.

Actually, for a while there was none from here either, because Tom's computer was serving as our Internet hub. While I am fairly comfortable with computer software, I have the hardware knowledge of your average koala bear. So, I had to wait for Tom to visit and plug things in correctly. The house is quieter without Tom, but to make up for that, I've been banging on the piano slightly more. The downside of which is that I realize I'm just not the piano player I used to be. The upside of which is that if Tom gets eaten or even mauled by a bear, I'll be able to write a song about it instead of just a poem.

Finally, now that I've made a June post, it's time to update the file. Those who lived near me Senior year no doubt remember my wonderful Spike Jones collection. Well, I found some mp3s online, and downloaded them. Fear the file!
