Sept. 29, 2002

After weeks of hearing how nice the weather was and staying inside at my computer, I finally had a picnic lunch today. I met a friend at the deli, which was closed, so we walked down to the natural food store and bought some bread and cheese, and strawberries as an afterthought. Then after a pleasant walk back, we found a quiet spot next to the fence between the graveyard and the horse corral, on the graveyard side.

We were enjoying a delightful and peaceful lunch, as one would expect in bucolic Williamstown. She really loves horses, and so when she saw two in the distance, she went to the fence and called to them. The white one came over and right up to the fence so she could pat it on the nose. It started to walk away, then she called it again, and it looked back. Then it came right up to where we were sitting, turned around, and produced a large amount of horse poop.

We put our remaining food in the bag and left.
