Issue of the week: "Treacherous Waters: Roe vs. Wade"

There are many big issues today
Dividing the U S of A,
Abortion is one
That's debated a ton.
Everyone has got something to say.
When the Supreme Court heard Roe v. Wade
A crucial decision was made.
Twenty five years ago,
They had ruled it was so
That abortion was legal, and stayed
Yet some folks would strongly exhort
That it was a mistake by the Court.
For in some religions
It's amongst the big sins
If a woman with child aborts.
Pro-lifers think it's very bad
To let an abortion be had,
So they all entreat us
To protect the fetus
And if not, they can get very mad
This displeasure has sadly resulted
In a few clinics that were assaulted
With bombs quite explosive
And considering motive,
Extremist pro-lifers were faulted.
Most believe that abortion's too rife,
And allows termination of life.
If a human life starts
At the joining of parts,
It's as bad as murder with a knife.
Still others feel it's a deception,
To say life begins at inception,
For if off by a minute
Of when you begin it,
It's killing to use contraception.
There is no one who loves an abortion,
Not in any way, shape, or portion.
But some people would voice
The opinion that choice
Should be given to those in misfortune.
So even though all detest killing,
They still find their morals unwilling
To impose this harsh view,
On the unlucky few
For whom this act is some need fulfilling.
Because much as this act is reviled,
And is not to be thought of as mild,
There can be some cases
Where what the mom faces
Would be better off minus the child.
