Issue of the week: "Baby Got Bucks, with Sir Tax-a-Lot"*
by Seth Brown

*a parody of "Baby Got Back", by Sir Mix-a-Lot. I was going to say 'to the tune of baby got back', but there's not much of a tune. I can't find a midi file for it, and can't hum it anyway. I'm sorry that you can't sing along, but if you just read it out loud really fast while slowing down to emphasize the last word in each line and try to sound arrogant and cool at the same time, it should be a close approximation.

Just make sure nobody's in the same room.

I like big bucks, which I can't deny
So I have to ask myself why
All the Europeans pay much higher tax rates
Than we do here in the States
It's a mess
I have to confess
That nobody likes the I.R.S.
People here hate taxation
Even with representation
But if you're high-income bracket
It's quite a racket
Thanks should go to Ronald Reagan
Who knew money like Oliver's Fagin
The rich love the government
Dropping income tax by five percent

Trickle-down,
Trickle-down,
What goes around comes around
We tried to believe
That's what Reaganomics might achieve
Scam.
Sham.
Paying less cash to Uncle Sam.
When your nation's in debt it's dumb
To reduce federal tax income
Though nobody wants the burden resting on their backs,
It's a fact we need tax.

Though income tax decreased
The burden has hardly ceased
In addition to income tax
There's payroll and sales
And if all that fails,
You can always be depressed by the forms.
They revise them nearly yearly
Ostensibly so you can read them more clearly
But it just gets worse with every page
So as you are perusing
You'll find it confusing
And your mind will take a bruising.
With a hundred page introduction
Where you learn a new instruction
It's a whole beaurocratic production
Trying to find a legal deduction

But go back to the Europeans
Who pay the high taxes we're fleein'
What reason do they have for bein'
That willing to pay a high price?
Well the system there is rather nice.
If you've got mumps, boils, or lice,
It's all covered over there,
With universalized healthcare
Our current system can't compare
So next time you hear people complain
About taxes in Germany or Spain
Remember that the money they're payin'
Buys a whole lot of government surety,
Whereas our own social security
Is looking rather pale, like it's soon gonna fail
But at least where capitalism does prevail
Baby got bucks.
