Issue of the week: "Bio-illogical Terrorism"
by Seth Brown

These days we are often in fear
Of what dreadful event may be near.
  We fight with Saddam,
  And fear that a bomb
Sent by Hussein could suddenly appear.

And what has even more people awed,
Is that threats are not all from abroad.
  People in our own nation
  Will cause devastation
In the name of truth, freedom, or god.

Explosive devices are rife,
And have often destroyed lots of life.
But a new type of danger
  To which we're a stranger
Is bound to cause even more strife.

Against most terrorism we tend
To contain all the harm it could rend.
  But when fighting a chemical,
  This bad epidemic will
Leave us no chance to defend.

This new terror can kill through the air,
Deadly biological warfare.
  It's not easy to flee
From a harm you can't see,
And yet people have cause to beware.

Our standard defenses fall short
Against weapons of this heinous sort.
  Such viral infectors
  Fool metal detectors
Designed to stop guns from import.

These new weapons are hidden with ease.
Yet can cause quite a deadly disease.
  If a firebrand attacks
  With a little Anthrax,
It will cause you to do more than sneeze.

And what's worse, the stuff's easy to find
For those people with havoc in mind.
It won't take them a while
  To find a vile vial
Of toxic death, if they're inclined.

Yet diseases are not something new,
Before bombs, there were measles and flu.
  And though sources are vague,
It would seem the Black Plague
Was much worse than what terrorists do.

So although this new weapon's nefarious,
And might make people sick or malarious,
  It's just one more way
  People get killed today;
We cannot allow our fears to bury us.
