O! say in D.C. there's a great flag of ours
Which so proudly we hailed at Smithsonian's museum,
It's our great history, boasting 15 large stars.
For a while 'twas unveiled, and the folks came to see 'em.
But the lights' harmful glare, pollutants in the air,
Were corroding the fabric with much wear and tear.
O! say does that star-spangled Banner fall apart
Should we try to save it or, is it too late to start?
It's a grand old flag,
Yet a now tattered flag
Which we'd like to restore to its prime.
Since much has been lost
The plan will cost
A whole lot of effort and time.
Some think it's insane
When our world has such pain
To spend millions on one old rag.
But national pride won't be denied
So we'll fix up our grand old flag.
