Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
a tale of a dreadful plight
That started with a simple ride
upon a Northwest flight.

In January from St. Martin
the airplane did depart
Three hours late with a large snowstorm,
it was a terrible start.

It was a terrible start.

The weather started getting rough,
Detroit was closed that day;
They had to land in Tampa, Florida
where for the night they'd stay.

Where for the night they'd stay.

The passengers spent a restless night
The layover took much time.
The wake-up call was at four A.M.
To catch a six o'clock flight.
It was delayed. They resumed their fate, five hours late,
On flight Eighteen Twenty-Nine

For the second wing of this awful flight
more passengers got on the plane.
If they had known what was in store
They'd have taken a train.

Detroit had hours of ground delays,
the plane ran out of food.
And then the airplane's toilets broke
Which really was quite crude.

The passengers began to scream
and threatened to jump ship.
Weather outside was twenty below;
how fitting for this hellish trip.

Finally, a cell-phone call was made
to Northwest's president's line.
After thirty hours they finally escaped
Flight Eighteen Twenty-Nine.
