Issue of the week: "Less Ire in Ireland"*

Dear Ireland, at last a peace is calling
Can Protestants and Catholics now decide
To halt their feud, no longer have men falling
From guns and bombs caused by sectarian divide

Those Protestants have seen their forces bolster
The British rule that helped them claim the land
But Catholics can hardly stomach Ulster
And all the "Troubles" that it brings to Ireland.

Though Catholics are not just guiltless victims,
They formed Sinn Fein, and run the I.R.A.
Such terrorists have bombs and then inflict them
Upon the men who might have gotten in their way.

But now this year, a new hope fills the nation,
As in Belfast agreements have been made
To promise full religious toleration.
We only hope this new precept will be obeyed.
