Theodore John Kaczynski is not such a common name,
But one which we have heard because his actions gained him fame.
When he was found inside his cabin hidden in the wood,
He had in there some bomb components which nobody should.
Now this alone would not have been sufficient evidence
To link him with the Unabomber, but he had no sense.
Along with the explosives he had stored up in his shack,
The police found written notes which showed his conscience had a
lack.
And much as Ted Kaczynski may have tried to stay aloof,
It didn't help his chances when his family turned in proof.
This former math professor found computers quite offensive,
He had written countless articles that made most people pensive.
Attacking modern society, every aspect we call ours,
From giant corporations down to building roads and cards.
Thoreau was a great writer who had once said, "Simplify,"
But I think that it is pretty clear he didn't want folks to die.
Whereas the Unabomber felt that killing was okay,
If it would bring his manifesto to the USA.
And so indeed, the papers said, "We'll print your treasured work,
If you will stop the bombings and stop acting like a jerk."
But though he thought he got his way, he really wasn't clever,
Because he now could be tracked down thanks to his own endeavor.
His writings now were plainly seen, and spread across the nation,
Decrying technological industrialization.
Yet though he saw technology as one of man's great vices,
It didn't stop him from using it for explosive devices.
Meanwhile, his writings all were being analyzed,
To find out who this man was in the shady hood disguise.
And so with all the pieces there, it didn't take too long,
To find that Ted Kaczynski was the person in the wrong.
But even though they snooped him out with guilt, just like a beagle,
They cannot really punish him until the whole thing's legal.
So now the country sits and waits for the upcoming trial,
To see if Ted will have to go to jail for a while,
And some would argue strongly to give the death penalty,
Because of all the deaths he caused by inhumanity.
It has been nearly twenty years since his first alleged crime,
And since then sixteen bombings and three murders passed the time.
So even if death penalty is not a strong prediction,
At least we hope November's trial will bring him a conviction.
