The Wizard of Oz

Our eighth bonus comes from the realm of movies, and it comes in three parts.

1. On their way to the Wicked Witch's castle, Scarecrow, Lion and Tin Man are all carrying 2 weapons with them. We want you to name them.
   Scarecrow -- lead pipe and pistol; Tin Man -- axe and wrench; Lion -- witch repellent (in DDT dispenser) and butterfly net

2. We want you to name the 6 roles played by Frank Morgan.
   Professor Marvel; the doorman at Oz; the carriage driver of the Horse of a Different Color; the attendant to Oz's hall; the smoky face of Oz's image; and the Wizard of Oz behind the curtain.

3. We want you to sing ANY 2 complete verses from ANY of the Scarecrow, Tin Man, or Lion's songs. In other words, you may sing one verse from two different songs, OR 2 verses from the same song.

   SCARECROW:

   I could while away the hours,
   Conferring with the flowers,
   Consulting with the rain.
   And me head I'd be scratchin'
   While my thoughts were busy hatchin',
   If I only had a brain.

   I'd unravel any riddle
   For any individ'l
   In trouble or in pain.
   With the thoughts you'd be thinkin',
   You could be another Lincoln,
   If you only had a brain.

   Oh, I-- could tell you why
   The ocean's near the shore
   I could think of things I never thunk before.
   And then I'd sit, and think some more.

   I would not be just a nothin',
   My head all full of stuffin',
   My heart all full of pain.
   I would dance and be merry,
   Life would be a dingaderry,
   If I only had a brain.

   TIN MAN:

   When a man's an empty kettle,
   He should be on his metal,
   And yet I'm torn apart.
   Just because I'm presumin'
   That I could be kinda human,
   If I only had a heart.

   I'd be tender, I'd be gentle,
   And oh, so sentimental,
   Regarding love and art.
   I'd be friends with the sparrows
   And the boy who shoots the arrows,
   If I only had a heart.

   Picture me, a blacony,
   Above a voice sings low:
   "Wherefore art thou, Romeo?"
   I hear a beat....... how sweet.

   Just to register emotion--
   Jealousy, devotion--
   And really feel the part,
   I could stay young and chipper
   And I'd lock it with a zipper,
   If I only had a heart.

   LION:

   Yes, it's sad believin', missy,
   That you're born to be a sissy,
   Without the vim and virm.
   But I could show my prowess,
   Be a lion, not a mowess,
   If I only had the nerve.

   I'm afraid there's no denyin'
   I'm just a dandy lion,
   A fate I don't deserve.
   I'd be brave as a blizzard,
   I'd be gentle as a lizard,
   I'd be clever as a gizzard,
   If the Wizard is a wizard who will serve.
   Then I'm sure to get a brain-- a heart-- a home-- the nerve.
