Pre-Contest Publicity

As part of our continuing efforts to indoctrinate and subvert the good students of Williams College, we of "Not Everyone Keeps Their Genitals in the Same Place" have declared the period of April 15 through May 15 to be

TRIVIA Awareness Month

and provided the answers to the following frequently asked questions about TRIVIA:

Isn't staying up all night before Final Exams rather stupid?

This question has confronted would-be TRIVIA players for decades. We can only offer the following answer: there comes a time in one's life when one must carefully weigh the seemingly sure rewards of the status quo against the insubstantial potential of a risk taken. Can one, as a college student and therefore a supposed seeker of new knowledge and experience, in good conscience ignore this opportunity to engage in such a unique social and intellectual activity? Or would one rather prove one's own hypocrisy by turning aside on the golden road to greater enlightenment to tread upon the oft-travelled, barren track to a greater GPA? Of course, we're not suggesting that TRIVIA provides any such enlightenment, but the sunrise over the mountains is fairly spectacular at this time of year.

Don't be a nerd.

Well, okay, what do I do to play?

Before midnight on Friday, May 15, find an area where you won't be disturbing those boring individuals who try to sleep at night, and set up a headquarters. You will need the following items: a radio, some phones (the more, the merrier!), unhealthy junk food, caffeinated beverages, and people with the guts to stay up all night immediately before Finals.

Tune into WCFM at midnight (i.e. 00:00h Saturday, May 16) for instructions.

Is this some sort of glorified "Trivial Pursuit" game?

TRIVIA bears about as much resemblance to "Trivial Pursuit" as a Boeing 767 does to a paper airplane. The generic TRIVIA format is as follows: approximately 100 questions are read on WCFM, to which the teams respond by phone while a song is played in the background. 1 point is awarded for answering the question, another for naming the title and artist of the song. There are also eight hourly written Boni, two four-hour written Superboni, seven Action Trivia (skits written and performed by each team for our entertainment, and evaluation), and the infamous Ultrabonus.

Uh, isn't "bonuses" the proper plural form of "bonus"?

Listen, wiseguy, it's "boni" as long as we're running the contest. Learn Latin.
