Through the mid-70s, each week's edition of "ABC's Wide World of Sports" began AND ended with the same sequence of film clips. Now to avoid any confusion, we'll pinpoint the year as 1974. The sequence began with the mountain aerial shot, and ended with a shot of cars racing at Monte Carlo-- one of the cars was flipping up into the air as they cut to the ABC logo.
In between, there were 12 clips, showing 11 different sports, including 6 clearly recognizable athletes. Again, to avoid confusion, these athletes appear in scenes 2, 3, 6, 8, 8 again, and 12. For five points, name the eleven sports and the six athletes.
If you knew the name of Mr. Agony, Vinko Bogataj, good for you.
