Stink, Stank, Stunk!

January 17-18, 2009

Notes

This was another very smoothly-run contest. The biggest problem for most remote teams was again that the radio station stream was very unreliable early in the night, and would drop out every few seconds. Presumably the WCFM feed was overloaded and simply not up to as many requests as it was getting. As the night wore on and teams went to bed, the stream got more reliable.

Because Stink, Stank, Stunk! was a two-person team when they won the contest, they solicited help from a number of people, some of whom provided boni, and some of whom came to Williamstown to help run the contest. Here is Tom Gardner's report on the team.

Well, it was quite a night. A fabulous contest by Stink Stank Stunk. A very smooth night from beginning to end, aside from the now omnipresent streaming issues. (We really have to figure this out some time!)

I just wanted to add to Des's "thanks" by giving everyone the full "roster" of the "running team" and list the contributions everyone made. Certainly these were unusual circumstances and it is fair to say that Trivia lives another day thanks to the efforts of the 19 people listed below (I sure hope Des and I have everyone!) who came to the aid of Stink Stank Stunk (Des and Dom), both in "content" and in "execution." Many of us were in the unusual position of both contributing AND playing, dutifully abstaining from our own questions/boni when they appeared. It is surely both an overstatement and unduly dramatic to say that this was one of Trivia's "finest hours," but it sure was fun working with all of you to make it happen. And the 100+ people who played Trivia this time, from Williamstown to Minnesota to California to Paris, got a great show!

So...here we go. And if we've missed anyone or any contributions, please add them! And please forgive misspellings...
