I had imagined that anyone with basic cultural awareness could have picked up 3 points on this one by picking up 1, 2, 13, 17, 26, 28, 29, 32, 44, 50, 53, and 61. Apparently doing that was a little tougher than I had thought for about half a dozen teams, but there was still a nice wide range on this bonus, saving the gap between the people who did well and the people who did really well.
I think that the Memorial Day Miracle and the Goal of the Century were the most-missed sub-sections, although I didn't see how the live teams did on those--barring Not Yet Dead picking up some there, my guess is that the only questions that went down were in the second section. Common mistakes were mistaking the "Rumble in the Jungle" for the "Thrilla in Manilla," Sean Elliot for Michael Jordan (?????), and Jesse Owens for Bob Beamon. A bizarrely huge number of people knew what WUSA team Brandi Chastain played for, which I thought was going to be the most obscure question on this--perhaps part of that can be accounted for by the fact that many people recognized the picture and thus could Google it if they were stumped overall on the bonus (a large percentage did, on this bonus, resort to the Google, though I can't imagine that it helped all that much).
