Answers to Super Bonus #1: The Internet is Ruining All Culture
Here are the answers to Super 1. Even though no team got more than half of
these, I think most answers got picked up by someone...
Blogs: 1, 2, and 4 didn't pose problems to that many people. Some answers
were a little ambiguous, so I allowed multiple answers for the Phantom's
songs and Alex's battles. I think the most stumpers came on As I Lay Dying
(though I did not see Ms. Brink's answers to this one, which may well have
nailed all of them). Edmund was a popular wrong answer for Cornwall; I'd
give you credit if "Celery_fence" weren't so clearly a bad play on the
latter.
IM lyrics: More problems on this one, and a fair number of stumpers (to
whoever got "I Wear My Sunglasses at Night"--well played). People tended
to get the Clapton, Dido, Chapin, Meat Loaf and Spice Girls; I think Ja
Rule, Edelweiss, Beach Boys, Wenceslaus, and High School Musical died,
perhaps among others. With any luck, you all can appreciate their
brilliance after the fact.
WSO: There was a pretty clear division between students and alums on
this one. Best performance, I believe, went to the Superstars, perhaps
advantaged by having the answer to #81 on their team. Apparently, most
people aren't experts on the WSO servers; ah well.
Virals: I think Tigger went down. Otherwise, I don't think anyone got
as many as half, but most people got a handful and managed to cover most of
the correct answers overall.
Other sites: I was shocked at how few people knew that Trivia DJ
extraordinaire Paul Stansifer '07 is the original designer of the Wikipedia
logo (though we did not give the requested bonus to Fudgie on this bonus
for having him on their team). The only ones here that went down were in
the last ten.
