The Ultra answer was "Books of the Bible." A good Ultra, theoretically, gets a slow trickle of right answers early, accelerating a little in the middle before everyone gets it toward the end. We got 2/3--the early trickle happened, with In It to Win It* getting it just before the second hour ended and Jack is da Bomb just after the third clue was released; and five teams each got it on the seventh and eighth clues. Nobody, however, submitted a correct answer between 12:05 and 4:00. We were lenient if people just put "the Bible," but didn't accept things like "Christianity" or "The Old Testament," since those wouldn't exactly subsume all the clues. The individual clues are explicated below--

1. A pages from EZRA Pound's Cantos; the bowdlerized happy-ending version of King Lear by NAHUM Tate; the tale in Ovid's Metamorphoses of Baucis and PHILEMON.

2. The Supreme Court's CORINTHIAN columns; the White Tower of Thessalonika, surrounded by THESSALONIANS; the Temple of Arthemis at Ephesus, surrounded by EPHESIANS.

3. An action figure of the Iron Monger, aka OBADIAH Stane; a unit of ROMANS from Civilization V; several superheroes engaged in LAMENTATIONS.

4. White House Press Secretary JOSHUA Earnest; the JUDGES from America's Got Talent; the lineage of the most recent KINGS of the UK.

5. The first book of the CHRONICLES of Narnia; an arrow pointing on the cover of Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats to Old DEUTERONOMY; a shelf of plays, which all include ACTS

6. Celtics point guard ISAIAH Thomas; the Yankees' Babe RUTH; the Cowboys' EZEKIAL Elliott (with Tony Romo); swimmer ESTHER Williams

7. Three Dog Night singing "JEREMIAH was a bullfrog"; GENESIS's "Jesus He Knows Me"; Bob Marley's "EXODUS"; Billy JOEL's "River of Dreams"; Elton JOHN's "DANIEL"; Tori AMOS's "Crucify"

8. A Sega GENESIS; a sequence of NUMBERS; a pair of PROVERBS; pictures of MATTHEW McConaugey, MARK Wahlberg, LUKE Wilson, and JOHN Lennon; a picture of JUDE Law; the cover of Assassin's Creed: REVELATIONs, with the s inartfully crossed out.
