At this time, Hour Bonuses were worth 5 points for totally correct answers, and anything less earned 0. It was therefore possible for an opposing team to score unanswered points, the most terrifying scourge any team in the lead had to fear. Sliding scales for bonus scores would not arrive until the 1980s, when Hours were increased to 10 points apiece.
