Hi Everyone,
I'm writing with some announcements about WCJA events this week and some
MinCo-related information I was asked to pass along:
1. In observance of Holocaust Remembrance Day on Thursday, April 12, WCJA
will be organizing the reading of names of those who perished in the
Holocaust from 11am-3pm on Paresky steps. If you are interested, you may
sign up to read names for half an hour at this link
<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ij15mZOyuMAVNJ3Ma-Q7StkBoobvXNm1QptgVFuWBhE/edit?usp=sharing>.
There will also be other programming occurring at the same time, including
memorial candles available for lighting and informational signs.
2. On Thursday, April 12 at 7:30 pm, Urooj Arshad, the Director of
International LGBTQ Youth Health and Rights Programs at Advocates for Youth
will be giving a talk entitled *Invisibility and Visibility: Queer Muslim
Identity in the United States. *Arshad is an expert on the intersection of
Islamophobia and homophobia/transphobia, as well as reproductive justice in
the global south. This event is sponsored by: Minority Coalition Steering
Board, Feminist Collective, Muslim Student Union, Davis Center, and Dively
Committee. There will also be free pizza and a Doddrich tab!
3. The MinCo steering board is accepting self-noms for the 2018-19 board.
The self-noms are due on April 12 to the current MinCo co-chairs, Amina
Awad (ama4 at williams.edu) and Zeke Phillips (ejk2 at williams.edu). The

group collaboration, keeping open lines of communication with members of
other student organizations and faculty/staff in the administration, and
acting as a liaison between the Minority Coalition, the Davis Center, and
the dean of students. *Students may run as a pair (highly recommended) or
individually (students elected individually must serve as a single chair).*
*Secretary*
As secretary, your responsibility is to maintain organizational structure
and record institutional memory, which includes doing roll-call and taking
minutes at each GenCom and board meetings, presiding over and counting
votes, distributing minutes and other archival information, and maintaining
an updated list of all MinCo groups and their recent activities/updates
given at meetings.

As Treasurer, your responsibilities include holding Funding Committee
(FunCom) meetings, compiling MinCo group audits to help form their budgets,
and managing & allocating the Minority Coalition’s yearly budget (currently

MinCo calendar.
The communications director acts as a liaison between MinCo and the
social/publicity directors of various MinCo groups.
*Historian*
As historian, you are expected to attend all-campus inter-coalition events
hosted by MinCo and its members, and record and distribute photographs of
the event. You will also collaborate with the communications director in
managing MinCo's PR, and augment Archives to make the College's history
more accessible to the community.
