Sonnenfeldt self nom
My name is Joya Sonnenfeldt and I am running for Class of 2010 Representative to College Council. As an involved member of the Williams Community I have both an understanding of the challenges faced by my class and experience working with student groups and administration alike to create change on this campus.
I have undertaken leadership roles in many aspects of Williams life, academic, social and athletic. I have worked to improve our academic experience as a member on two different committees charged with improving non-major and first-year advising, one through College Council and one through the Dean’s Office. I have taken on challenging roles in the social and residential aspect of campus life as the current President of Spencer Neighborhood and as Chair of Spencer’s Student Faculty Committee and Baxter Fellow of Mark Hopkins during my sophomore year. In addition, I have served for the past year as the Spencer Board Representative to College Council, which has given me experience dealing with various challenges on campus. As a member of Women’s Crew I have, like so many of the other athletes in at Williams, learned to balance my course load and extra-curricular activities with the physical and emotional demands and the time commitment of participating in a varsity sport.
My experience across Williams College makes me sensitive to the interests and concerns of my classmates and it makes me eager to represent the Class of 2010 to College Council. If elected I would pay the greatest attention to the concerns, questions, and suggestions of my classmates, bringing them to the College Council. VOTE JOYA SONNENFELDT FOR CLASS OF 2010 REP!
