Mission Statement:The Williams College Women's Center is an inclusive community that brings together students, faculty, staff, alumsstrives to create a forum for women's issues, both in the context of Williams and the outside community members. We are women By creating an inclusive and supporters of women who believe in the value of a woman's voice productive space we hope to question dominant social structures and believe in challenge the importance of every voice bring heardstatus quo. We recognizestrive, explorethrough our programming, and celebrate a woman's identity in order to further gender equity on encourage analysis of feminism and off campusthereby turn discourse into practice. The Center seeks to build alliances Our core programming is based in order to educate and learn from our community about the facets of a woman's identity including but not limited desire to gender, ethnicity, sexuality, class, race, cultureformulate intellectual engagement, interactive discourse and spiritualitycollaborative activism. The Women's Center is a safe space where women can come together to talk as women Feminism and a place for people commitment to talk about gender that is safe for women and their alliesequality drive our group. Through promoting women's leadership We hope to illuminate the presence of feminism in everyday life and constant collaboration with other groups on campus we aim thereby demonstrate its relevance to foster that safe space in the Williams community and beyondculture of our college campus.
Some examples of events from last year: Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October with RASAN (Rape and Sexual Abuse Network), a poster campaign using song lyrics to promote sex positivism during Sex Week, a donation drive for the Elizabeth Freeman Center (local center that provides support for victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse), and a faculty lunch with Professor Brian Martin (French, Comp.
