How to print multiple slides per page
Printing out 500 pages of Art History slides can be a real hassle, both for making handy flashcards, and also for the people who run the printers (Each color cartridge does cost upwards of $200!) Here are some relatively painless ways to print out multiple slides per page that donââ¬â¢t involve laboring over an unwieldy Microsoft Word document.
Windows Users
- Download all of the slides you wish to print out into an empty folder on your desktop. (If you hold down ALT while clicking on the link to the picture, the file will download to your desktop. Just drag all of these files to an empty folder)
- Open the folder ââ¬â select all of the image files, then go to File -> Print. The ââ¬ÅPhoto Printing Wizardââ¬Â should come up.
- Click on the ââ¬ÅNextââ¬Â button at the bottom of the window. You should now see thumbnails of all the slides. Click on the ââ¬ÅSelect Allââ¬Â button, then the ââ¬ÅNextââ¬Â button.
- Select the printer you want to use ââ¬â lw-jesup-maindesk-color ââ¬â then click ââ¬ÅNextââ¬Â
- In the ââ¬ÅAvaliable Layoutsââ¬Â menu, scroll down and select a layout that puts at least 3 or 4 slides on one page. Click ââ¬ÅNextââ¬Â to begin printing.
Mac/OS X Users
- The easiest way to print multiple slides/page on an Apple is to use the ââ¬ÅiPhotoââ¬Â application. First download the slides (Hold down ALT while clicking on each link to automatically download the image to your desktop)
- Open up the ââ¬ÅiPhotoââ¬Â application. Go to File -> Add to Libraryââ¬Â¦
- In the new window, navigate to the desktop (or wherever you downloaded the slides to) and select all the slides to be imported. You should see all the slides as thumbnails in the ââ¬ÅiPhotoââ¬Â main window.
- Select all the slides you want to print by dragging a box around the thumbnails, then go to File -> Print.
- Select the printer you want to use ââ¬â lw-jesup-maindesk-color ââ¬â then go to the Style Menu and select ââ¬ÅN-Upââ¬Â
- You can choose the number of slides per page ââ¬â use 4 or 6. Make sure that the ââ¬ÅOne photo per pageââ¬Â box is UNCHECKED. Then click "Print"
Note: You can also click on the ââ¬ÅPDFââ¬Â button in the print menu and ââ¬ÅSave as PDFââ¬Â. This will create a file that has all the slides arranged onto the page. You can then save this file in your network folder to access and print out at Jesup it you want to download the slides to your own computer.
