Offered Winter Study 2008:

The Lehman Council for Community Engagement will be organizing a month-long experiential introduction to the Berkshires, issues of social justice, and informed activism. Focusing on food security, environmentalism, community partnership building, NGO work, and an array of other awesome social justice topics, Community Corps will empower its students to get involved and get informed, simultaneously, in order to make the biggest impact on the Berkshires and beyond. "Classes" will include a tour of local nonprofits, a film at MassMoCA, facilitated discussions on a "Second Bill of Rights," community partnership training and reflection, Martin Luther King Jr. celebrations, service trips to local organizations, and time to socialize with your fellow, budding activists! Community Corps will meet primarily in the evenings, with some day trips scheduled here and there. If you can't make one class, no problem; we just hope to see you at the next! Don't be afraid of the commitment. Rather, Get Engaged!
