The music major at Williams is pretty unorthodox. It has a smaller focus on theory and performing than you might expect, and a larger focus on music history, ethnomusicology, and composition than you might expect. Overall, it's a great department to get your feet wet with a really wide variety of musical activities and to discover what you really enjoy most in music. Alumni include Stephen Sondheim '50.

Most of the offices and classrooms used by the music department can be found in Bernhard Music Center, while performance spaces include Chapin Hall and Brooks-Rogers.
