Students for Social Justice is a group dedicated to envisioning and putting into practice a better implementing social justice at Williams, in the Berkshires, in America and in the world. We do this by raising awareness of relevant issues on campus through informationalevents such as film screenings and discussions with faculty, diplomacy and fundraising campaigns by taking more direct forms of action such as attending protests and events. Our organizing fundraisers, including the annual events include: Hunger Banquet, Alternative Gift Fair, Valentine's Day Fair trade Chocolate Sale. The focus of the group is guided by specific topics we address vary according to the interests and passions of the students who attend our meetings. In the past we have dealt with hunger, poverty, war, economic and trade justice on both the local, national and international levels. There are no "officers" or hierarchy in our group. Meetings are run horizontally. They typically start off with introductions and a "whip"--a question that everyone answers--and a "rabble rouser". They're fun. We're fun.
We invite all to come join us every Tuesday night Everyone and anyone is welcome at 8 pm in our meetings on Wednesdays at 7:30pm on the second floor of Goodrich(ie. the balcony).
